These cupcakes are really darn good. There is only one other cupcake place I frequent, but that's on my side of town, and this one is on my works. I was notified about this place by my mobibo app the other week, and I decided to let myself go back and try it a few days later. Walk in, smiles all around, and I am feeling comfortable in this place. I ask what are some of the most popular sweets, and he tells me the yellow submarine. I am a big time Beatles fan, heck yes I will try this just because of the name (this happens more often then I would like to admit). First bite, amazing. Lemon flavors are putting me into a trance, and the frosting (which there was a good deal of) was sweet, but not "Holy crap, my freaking teeth hurt!!!!!!" sweet. Its a little out of the way north of where my office is if I am not driving around for the day. I would like to surprise my co-workers one day, because most are from that area and love the place. Well, what can I say. I'm on the bandwagon too.

Its doesnt get any better then this, Rock n Roll and cupcakes. If you get a chance stop by and pick up a few flavors. The White Strip and Lexington amazing. Im really looking forward to trying Adams Apple.

This place has a great variety of creative cupcake flavors: pistachio, chocolate ganashe, etc and it changes all the time! I love how they even have cupcakes for your furry, four-legged friend. The frosting is super yummy and it would be even better if it had a bit more frosting.

Cupcakes are just an all-around cute dessert in general, but Rockin' Cupcakes makes eating them extra-awesome. The Red Velvet is my fave! The Blondie is pretty amazing, too--those pieces of toffee on top make the overall texture of the whole cupcake perfect. YUM YUM.

Over the last few years, I have found myself enjoying cupcakes. I have made it to many famous cupcakeries, including Georgeotown cupcakes and Sprinkles, to name the least. My favorite cupcake place you ask? Rockin' cupcakes. The Yellow Submarine is exquisite, with a perfected lemon curd filling and an elegant lemon icing. The red velvet (The White Stripes) is scrumptious! The cream cheese icing complements the sturdy red velvet cake perfectly. And if you're wondering...their red velvet is BETTER than Georgetown AND Sprinkles' cupcakes. While prices may seem high, their prices and quality are comparable (if not better) to the cupcakeries in the big cities. 5 rockin' stars!

Although I found the location difficult to find because it is wrapped around the corner from Papa Joe's. However, I am glad that I did. The White Stripes, The Lexington, Rollnig Stone, Pistachio (may) and Strawberry Fields (june), were all delicious. I am actually going to head there today and try the Yellow Submarine. They haven't disappointed me yet. I definitely recommend this little cupcake shop to everyone!

I frequent Rockin' quite often. I am a fan of theirs on facebook and mentioned that I was going there later in the day to pick up The King (chocolate peanut butter) and received a response that they would hold one for me! Lo and behold, when I got there at 5:00 pm, there were none in the case. I casually mentioned that someone said they would hold 1 for me and he said are you Staci? They held one for me!! That's what I call excellent service and The King cupcake is divine! I also love the Yellow Submarine!!!

New owner alert! At first I was afraid, I was petrified... Now I can't stop. My car drives itself here. The new owners have taken a great shop and made it amazing! They have kept the old recipes (like the Lexington- salted caramel) and have added a couple more. My new favorite is the butterscotch. Every time I see a picture of one, my stomach cries for it. They also now have vegan and gluten free cupcakes. The frosting will blow your mind. AMAZING. The vegan cupcake is 1000x better than the in town competitor. YUM. I can't wait to see what the new owners do next. I'll be the first in line to try it!

This place really is rocking...truly no pun intended. Was looking for some sweet treats for the bride on Mothers Day..went to yelp & searched the Rochester Area, the reviews here were very consistent, and it was only 5.1 miles away, I did call ahead as one yelper warned "They run out on Holiday Weekends" I called , the owner said, we have plenty right now [ 1pm on the Saturday before Mothers Day ] So I scooted over there & oh my goodness what a selection & taste combination The Bride loves anything vanilla or lemon so I bought her: YELLOW SUBMARINE Lemon cupcake with homemade lemon curd filling and lemon butter-cream, topped with a lemon slice THE WHITE ALBUM Vanilla cupcake with Madagascar vanilla bean butter cream, topped with white chocolate curls THE WHITE STRIPES Red velvet cupcake with cream cheese frosting, dusted with red velvet crumbs BROWN EYED GIRL Vanilla cupcake with chocolate butter-cream, topped with a dark chocolate drop + two more that yelpers raved about NIGHTS IN WHITE SATIN Chocolate cupcake with Madagascar vanilla bean butter-cream, topped with white nonpareils THE LEXINGTON Chocolate cupcake with homemade salted caramel filling and chocolate salted buttercream She Loved the Yellow Submarine & I was smitten with the LEXINGTON $18 for a 1/2 dozen, but truly these were not Meijer or Sams Club Cupcakes, they were GOURMET & SENSATIONAL My only regret & this is 100% on me, after the nice young man filled my order & boxed them up, I noticed day old cupcakes for $10 1/2 dozen , but did not have the heart to ask him to stop & change gears Also 2 noteworthy thoughts and its what I love about independent small business 1] the owner greeted me with a smile & a heart hello 2] the young man that packaged my order, was all about the presentation, as he grabbed each cupcake with tongs & placed them on a glass platter, then once I was done choosing, he then placed them in one of those plastic containers And in closing unbeknownst to me , is they were featured on Cupcakes wars on 3-3-13!

Where do I begin? Very happy with the new owners adding vegan and gluten free cupcakes! The Lexington is to die for! Thestaff and atmosphere is calm and professional. My family loves coming in here to grab a cupcake at least once a week. Can't wait to see what else might be added!

Stopped here for dessert after getting a coney from Lipuma's. Had the peanut butter cupcake which was flavorful with creamy frosting, my boyfriend enjoyed the monthly special which was a pistacio based cupcake, he loved it. We chatted with the owner and had a great time!

Not my favorite. Over priced and not anything special. Was hoping for more after watching them on cupcake wars.

I wanted to love Rockin' Cupcakes. I love cupcakes, but after moving last year, I'm nearly a half hour from the closest location of my favorite cupcake shop. Rockin' Cupcakes is definitely more convenient to my new locale. Unfortunately location was the best thing about Rockin' Cupcakes for me. I tried the salted caramel one and I think a red velvet one. They were good, but I would love to see the frosting all the way to the edge, and even a bit in the middle on the red velvet (there was salty caramel delicousness inside the salted caramel one). The environment was also nice. Since we were eating our first cupcake before leaving, we got a cute lil plate to take to the table. And a win for me lately is that there wasn't much stuff for my toddler to get into while he paced and ate. Overall, I guess I expected 'professional' cupcakes to be bigger and frosting-er, but there were still yummy as cupcakes go :)

  • Ani B.

good service. agree with other yelper that for the size, they are over-priced. Quality was good, could not decide if the icing was made with butter or shortening, probably the latter since they did not melt on such a warm day. Red velvet was good with cream cheese frosting. Chocolate on chocolate a little bland, lemon tasty and tart but the icing so sweet i got an instant headache; and i can take a lot of sugar. German chocolate as good as home-made once you bite into the pecan on top. did think the cakes a tad dry. doubt i would return and just make some at home.

Cupcakes + Slash memorabilia? I'm in heaven! The style of Rockin Cupcakes is great. In my opinion, it's really somewhere that Rochester needs. Do they have the best cupcakes in the world? Probably not. But the best in Rochester? Certainly. Any kind I have has has never disappointed me. My favorite would be the bumpy cake cupcake (the Rolling Stone, i think). My bf loves the Lexington, a salted caramel and chocolate cupcake. I recall having the red velvet and a raspberry cupcake as well, which were both great. You can tell there is an effort to create specialty cupcakes rather than just cake with frosting. I try to make an effort to visit Rockin Cupakes whenever I am in town. If you use Foursquare, they have a special (or at least the last time I went, they did) for $1 off a cupcake I think. My mom has used coupons there successfully as well, with the owner even doubling her coupon basically. One reviewer noted that they may close when sold out- i have not experienced this personally but have basically seen it. I went once on Mother's Day weekend and the pickings were slim. People after me had really maybe 2 choices (instead of usually about 8). So just note that if you come late, especially on a weekend or holiday or plan to get a big order, they might not have everything you want. IMO, that's common sense, but something to be aware of.

Yummy cupcakes!! I never give reviews but this place deserves it!! Friendly staff, fresh cupcakes with some awesome names.

Pretty awesome place. I was pleasantly surprized with the staff and the selection was crazy fun to look at. I of course needed something chocolate. Ended up with a choc one with whipped buttercream frosting topped with choc chips. Frosting was very light but a tad too sweet for me. Cupcake was great !!

My mother and I stopped into Rockin' Cupcakes after a grocery and wine-tasting trip to PaPa Joes. I am a self-proclaimed cupcake fanatic. Granted watching Cupcake Wars or baking up a storm at my house doesn't make me a master baker, but I know what tastes good as well as any normal person. I liked Rockin' Cupcakes style. The theme for each of the cupcakes is band related like the chocolate extravaganza Paint it Black Cupcake or the King Cupcake with peanut butter and chocolate. We got the Rolling Stone (bumpy cake) and the Lexington (salted caramel cupcake). I also had to purchase the May Cupcake of the month a Bacon Maple Cupcake. Hello, Bacon...yes please!! The bumpy cake was pretty standard and the bacon cupcake was interesting. The bacon wasn't overpowering and I was impressed with the maple pairing. I was a little disappointed in the salted caramel considering it was their signature cupcake. First off, I put a bit more salt in mine when I make them at home to ensure it comes through. Second it had a chocolate buttercream rather than a salted caramel frosting. It just tasted like chocolate and caramel. Overall, Rockin' is a pretty standard cupcake place. If you want some cupcakes for a little sweet treat it is a good place to stop.

Amazing cupcakes. I bake a lot, and the Lexington is the best cupcake that I have ever had. Hands down. I really don't know how they get their chocolate cupcakes so moist, and yet still with lots of chocolate flavor! I also really like The KIng (peanut butter frosting is to die for). The lemon cupcake (yellow submarine) has tons of lemon flavor, without being too sweet. They were so good that we had them pack us up a dozen, and then flew them home to California in my daughter's lap the whole way so her dad could try them too. Don't skip this place. The other cupcake places (like the one in Birmingham) are nothing like it.

  • Heather W.

Because of a birthday i have been to two cupcake shops this week. The Cupcake Station in Birmingham and Rockin' Cupcakes. If I had to pick a winner between the two it would be Rockin' Cupcakes. I tried the Lexington, which was amazing and the yellow submarine, also delicious. Cupcake Station's cupcakes were good, but overly rich. I will definitely be back to Rockin' Cupcakes to try new flavors.

These cupcakes are super delicious. I bought a dozen for an Oscar viewing party and everyone loved them. The ones that got two thumbs up among my friends were The Lexington, The Yellow Submarine, The White Stripes, and The White Album. I guess the amount and variety of cupcakes available in the store will depend on the sales of the day. I have seen their trays full with cupcakes at 5:30pm on a Sunday and I have seen them almost empty on a Saturday at 2:00pm. My advice is just to cross your fingers and drive to the store if you are in the mood for a great sugary treat.

My favorite cupcake in metro detroit! Friendly customer service, delicious cupcakes, and a rockin' atmosphere. The Yellow Submarine is my absolute favorite.

For a business that has published hours until 7pm, they offer less than stellar service...when they run out of cupcakes, they close. When I heard this, I thought it was a joke or perhaps an early business opening kink that had to be worked out. Alas, when I turned up to pick up some cupcakes two hours before closing, I was turned away. A word of advice would be to perhaps post that on their hours--we are open until 7pm or sell out? It also brings up the question: if you know you're operating a bakery & know your baked goods are going to run out hours before close, wouldn't you want to just make more? Going to this establishment earlier in the day doesn't improve your chances of getting a wide variety of choices; two weeks ago I walked in at 11am & had just three flavor choices, only two of which had multiple cupcakes. Basically, while the cupcakes were tasty, you're much better off going to another bakery. The cupcakes will be just as good, if not better, and you won't have to deal with the hassle of being turned away or not having anything to choose from.

The owner was lovely in explaining which of his cupcakes were best sellers and most loved! My favorite was a raspberry cupcake, and the carrot cake/cupcake. YUMMM! This business is a great addition to the Rochester area (located in the complex with Papa Joes), which I will definitely frequent often!

I have had the pleasure of tasting 'The Lexington' which was amazing! Chocolate is not an easy cake to keep moist enough to impress me. This was hands down THE BEST cupcake ever. The gooey surprise in the middle in addition to the sprinkled salt on top made this treat Unforgettable. I wish I lived in the area to try all flavors.

I've had gourmet cupcakes before and these here are REALLY THE BEST. We had a party for Valentine's day and ordered 6 of their signature cupcake THE LEXINGTON also had a dozen RED VELVET. They were the hit of the party. Extremely moist, sweet but not overly loaded with sugar. Overall great cupcakes, the owners are down to earth and friendly. Definitely ordering more for my next party.

Ok, I've been frequenting this place to get my favorite cupcakes. The Lexington is the bomb, however when I came by this week to treat myself I noticed less frosting than usual. I was a bit dissapointed and hope they are not going to start doing that. The cupcake is expensive as it is and I want my money's worth of icing!
